Accessibility Statement
Last Updated: May 10, 2026 Effective Date: May 10, 2026
1. Our Commitment to Accessibility
Wiamé is committed to making our online store usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities. We believe everyone should be able to browse, shop, and contact us with ease and dignity, regardless of ability, device, or assistive technology.
We are continuously working to improve the accessibility of our website, www.wiamé.com (and its punycode equivalent www.xn--wiam-epa.com), and we welcome feedback that helps us do better.
2. Standards We Aim For
We strive to align our website with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the standard widely recognized in Canada under the Accessible Canada Act (ACA) and provincial accessibility laws, and is referenced internationally as the benchmark for accessible digital content.
Where reasonably practicable, we also look to the more recent WCAG 2.2 Level AA criteria, which build on WCAG 2.1 with additional improvements for users with cognitive, motor, and low-vision disabilities.
Please note that Wiamé is a small, online-only retailer. We are not a federally regulated organization and are not directly required by the Accessible Canada Act or its regulations to publish a formal accessibility plan. However, we voluntarily share this statement because accessibility is important to us and to our customers.
3. Conformance Status
Our website is built on the Wix.com platform, which provides a number of built-in accessibility features. We make ongoing efforts to use these features properly and to design pages that are perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for users with a wide range of abilities.
We describe our current conformance status as "partially conformant" with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the standard. This is an honest reflection of the reality that no website is ever perfectly accessible at every moment — accessibility is an ongoing process, especially as products, photos, and content are added to the store.
We have not yet completed a formal third-party accessibility audit. As our business grows, we plan to commission one and to act on its findings.
4. Accessibility Features We've Worked On
Here are some of the steps we (and the Wix platform) have taken to improve accessibility on our site:
-
Semantic structure — pages use heading tags and a logical content hierarchy so that screen readers and other assistive technologies can navigate them effectively.
-
Alternative text for images — we add meaningful alt text to product photos and informative images wherever possible, so users who rely on screen readers can understand the content. (If you find an image without useful alt text, please let us know — see Section 7.)
-
Keyboard navigation — the Wix platform supports keyboard navigation for visitors who do not use a mouse, including a "skip to content" link to bypass repetitive navigation.
-
Visible focus indicators — interactive elements show a visible focus outline as you navigate with a keyboard.
-
Defined site language — the site's language is set so screen readers can pronounce content correctly.
-
Responsive design — the site adapts to different screen sizes and orientations, including mobile and tablet, and supports browser zoom.
-
Encrypted secure checkout — our checkout process is provided through Wix and our payment processors and is designed to be usable with assistive technology.
5. Known Limitations
We want to be transparent. Despite our best efforts, the following areas may present accessibility challenges for some users:
-
Third-party content — some elements on the Site (such as embedded payment widgets, fraud-screening tools, social-media feeds, or carrier tracking links) are provided by third parties and are not fully within our control. We rely on those providers to maintain their own accessibility.
-
Older product images — some product images may have brief or generic alternative text while we work through our catalogue to improve descriptions.
-
PDF or other downloadable documents — if we ever publish PDFs, they may not all be fully tagged for accessibility. If you need an accessible alternative format, please contact us (see Section 7).
-
Dynamic content — interactive elements such as image galleries, dropdown filters, or pop-ups may occasionally present challenges for some assistive technologies.
-
Videos — any videos posted on the Site may not always include captions or audio descriptions immediately upon release.
We are actively working to address these limitations and to improve over time. If you encounter a specific barrier, please let us know so we can prioritize it.
6. Browser and Assistive Technology Compatibility
Our website is designed to be compatible with current versions of major browsers and operating systems, used together with common assistive technologies, including:
-
Browsers: recent versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Apple Safari;
-
Screen readers: common screen-reader software such as NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver (macOS / iOS), and TalkBack (Android);
-
Operating systems: current versions of Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.
If you use older software or specialized assistive technology, you may experience reduced functionality. We recommend keeping your browser and assistive technology up to date for the best experience.
7. Accessibility Feedback and How to Contact Us
We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of our website. If you encounter an accessibility barrier, have a suggestion for improvement, or need information or a service in a more accessible format (for example, a product description by email, or assistance placing an order), please contact us:
Email: wiameorder@gmail.com Subject line: "Accessibility Feedback"
When you contact us, it helps if you can share:
-
the page or area of the Site you were trying to use (a URL or product name);
-
a description of the barrier you encountered;
-
the browser, device, and any assistive technology you were using; and
-
your preferred way for us to follow up with you.
Our response commitment: we aim to acknowledge accessibility feedback within 5 business days and to provide a more substantive response — including, where possible, a fix, a workaround, or a timeline — within a reasonable time after that, depending on the complexity of the issue.
We will not charge you any additional fee for receiving information or completing a transaction in an accessible format or with our assistance.
8. Alternative Ways to Shop or Get Help
If, for any reason, you are unable to complete a purchase or find information on our Site, please email us at wiameorder@gmail.com and we will be happy to:
-
describe products in more detail;
-
help you place an order over email;
-
provide information in plain-text form; or
-
discuss other reasonable accommodations.
9. Ongoing Improvements
Accessibility is not a one-time project — it's a continuous commitment. As we grow, we plan to:
-
continue improving alt text and content structure across our catalogue;
-
review accessibility as part of every major Site update or redesign;
-
consider commissioning a formal third-party accessibility audit;
-
stay informed about updates to WCAG and Canadian accessibility law; and
-
consult with people with disabilities for feedback where possible.
We will update this Accessibility Statement from time to time to reflect our progress and any changes in standards or practices.
10. Limitations and Disclaimers
This statement reflects our good-faith efforts to make our website accessible. While we are committed to accessibility, we cannot guarantee that every page or feature will be free of accessibility issues at all times, particularly with respect to:
-
third-party content, applications, and services we do not control;
-
content uploaded or generated by users (such as reviews);
-
the underlying Wix platform and its features, which are maintained by Wix.com Ltd.; and
-
temporary issues caused by Site updates, new product additions, or maintenance.
Nothing in this statement limits or waives any rights you may have under the Canadian Human Rights Act, the Accessible Canada Act, or any other applicable law. If you believe you have been denied service or treated unfairly because of a disability, please contact us first so we can try to resolve the matter — and know that you may also seek assistance from the Canadian Human Rights Commission or other appropriate bodies.
